Terms of Service

1. Accepting these terms

By downloading, installing or using the Skinventry app (the “App”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Who can use Skinventry

The App is for adults 21 and over. By using it, you confirm that you are at least 21.

3. What Skinventry is

Skinventry is an iPhone app that identifies a product from a photo of it or its label, or from its name, and shows public information about the product and the company behind it: what it is made of, the claims and certifications on it, where it is made, recalls, ownership, manufacturing, sourcing, regulatory history, lawsuits and reporting. You can also name allergens and ingredients to flag, and each lookup shows where a flagged item appears on the published ingredient list or the label.

4. Information only

Everything in Skinventry is for general information. It is not medical, legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, dermatologist, pharmacist, lawyer or financial adviser. Always read the product’s own label and instructions, and ask a qualified professional about allergies, health conditions or anything that matters to your safety.

Flags only check the published ingredient list and the label. A product without a published list cannot be checked, and a flag that finds nothing does not mean a product is free of an allergen or safe for you. Always check the package.

5. Sources and accuracy

Facts in Skinventry are attributed to their sources, labeled Official, Government or Independent, and dated. Skinventry reports what those sources say; it does not independently verify every claim, and allegations are attributed to the people or organizations that made them. Products are reformulated, companies change owners, and records are updated, so information can be out of date, incomplete or wrong, and it can change without notice. When Skinventry cannot verify something, it says so.

6. No scores, no endorsements

Skinventry does not score, rate, rank or endorse any product or company, and nothing in the App is a recommendation to buy or avoid anything. No company pays to be listed, ranked or left out. Brand names and trademarks belong to their owners and appear only to identify products.

7. Subscriptions and payments

Skinventry is free to download, and your first two searches are free, each with the full record. Skinventry Pro is an optional subscription that includes 30 searches a month, offered at $49.99 a year, $9.99 a month or $4.99 a week (prices in US dollars; Apple may show local prices and taxes in other regions).

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
• Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the same price and for the same length, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends.
• You can manage or cancel it at any time in your Apple ID settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions). After you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its refund policy. We cannot process refunds directly.

8. Your content

Photos and other content you create stay yours. You give us permission to process what you send for identification or to set up your flags only as needed to provide the App. You agree not to submit anything illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive or defamatory.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the App for any unlawful purpose;
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except where the law allows it;
• interfere with or disrupt the App’s servers or networks, or get around its usage limits;
• use bots, scrapers or other automated systems to access the App or copy its data in bulk;
• use the App to create harmful, misleading or inappropriate content.

10. Intellectual property

The App, including its design, code, features, graphics and branding, belongs to Skinventry and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from the App without our written permission. Third party content shown in the App belongs to its owners and is linked to its source.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App or its information will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted or error free.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, Skinventry and its affiliates, officers, employees and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits or personal injury, arising from your use of the App or reliance on its information. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months before the claim.

13. Termination

We may suspend or end your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, including for a breach of these terms. You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it; cancel any subscription separately in your Apple ID settings.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date. If you keep using the App after a change, you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
